KARLA LEANDRI RIDER
Karla has been the Executive Director of the Rufus Porter Museum since November 2018. Originally from Connecticut, she moved to Maine after attending college in Boston to continue her education and gain more experience in the museum field. Karla has had the privilege of working for a variety of grass-roots non-profit organizations in Maine including the Old York Historical Society, Victoria Mansion, the Maine People's Alliance, Maine Preservation, Museum L-A, and the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society.
Shelby has served as Museum Assistant since February 2019. She gained experience as the Project Ambassador at the First Amendment Museum in Augusta, ME; Communications Intern at the National Museum in Philadelphia, PA; and as a student worker at the Berman Museum of Art at Ursinus College. She has been working as a museum assistant at the Yarmouth Historical Society since July 2018. She splits her time between Yarmouth and Bridgton, utilizing her detailed-oriented skills to further the missions of both of these historically important institutions in Maine.

Like Rufus Porter himself, Mary has very diverse interests and is a double major in both Biology and Historical Studies at Bard College. Her previous experience includes an education internship at the Maine State Aquarium in Boothbay Harbor, Maine, and as a lab assistant for the Bard College Biology department. Mary is currently working on a virtual tour and exhibits for the museum and will be assisting with visitor services when the museum opens in July.
